Government “Site R”
We do know that the government has some protective bunkers that could most likely support an event like the K/T event or a nuclear blast. The extent of these bunkers, including their size, is still wildly unknown to the general public. On November 11, 2001 George Tenet, the director of the CIA , informed the president that there was a 10-kiloton nuclear weapon inside New York City. The Vice President evacuated to one of these bunkers a secret government site called “Site R”. With Cheney was an alternative government including several hundred people who worked in Washington’s government. They were compiled in case there was a nuclear bomb in Washington as well. Although the devastation would had been catastrophic for a nuclear bomb in either of those cites, the rest of the country would survive and need a government to lead them.
We know that our government has made secretive sites probably in the foothills of Desert Mountains of the Southwest. We know that potentially hundreds of people could be protected there. What we don’t know is if there are any built for civilian use. Or if those hundreds people at “site R” could increase to thousands or tens of thousands of people.
